I think prestige should still be a thing. It would affect a character's morale. Basically, a crowd cheers for a fighter with moral, causing them to fight harder.

Accuracy should have a 10% Minimum though. Other than that I like the system. Only other thing I'd add is maybe universal skills based on each stance but other than that anything else is just adding complexity for the sake of it. Equipment will not count to the cap right?

Wait, if 20 is the max of stats, does that mean that the Ice Golem could outspeee Joan? That doesn't make sense, really. Some characters need to have different stat limits so things make sense.

I was just thinking the same thing when writing my mock up pie.
So here is what I found for a solution that I personally like, but you might hate...
Size DOES matter, in the respect that it dictates your "class". Each class gets a particular stat bonus that DOES NOT count toward your maximum points. for instance...
Size 1: "you are small and agile. Because of this, enemies have a hard time hitting you, and you are well trained! But keep in mind, that there are penalties to being this tiny..." Permanent +3 speed, +2 skill, -2 HP Size 2: "You stand a little under average, but being slightly shorter than most Gladiators lets you hit below the belt!" +1 attack, +2 skill, +2 accuracy, -1 Hp, -1 defense Size 3: "You are average size for a gladiator. This isn't always a bad thing though..." +1 skill, +1 Hp, +1 attack Size 4: "You are a little more bulky than your average gladiator. Size does have it's weaknesses though." +2 Hp, +2 Defense, +1 Attack, -1 accuracy, -1 speed. Size 5: "Most Gladiators are eclipsed by your shadow. You are as big as they come! Again though, size can be a weakness." +3 Hp, +3 Defense, -3 speed
This will help fix the problem you were talking about pie. You can choose an appropriate weight class for your character (like Joan is either a 1 or 2, Evergreen is either a 4 or 5, Sting is either a 3 or 4, crawdad is either a 4 or 5, Bok is either a 4 or 5, Gilbert is either a 1 or 2, and Volug is either a 2 or 3.)

Well, I guess Joan is Size One. He already can be knocked out by a good punch, anyway.

I'll say Crawdad is size 4. Big, but there's a few that are even bigger.

Mock battle going up. Take note that this battle doesn't account for size or tactics. It also is not a true representative of either Volug or Evergreen, I just used them because I am most familiar with them.
I also wanted to note that if your gladiator loses a battle, he will still gain .5 of a level. This will reward you for participating still!

Mock Up Battle Volug Vs Evergreen
Rework Mockup Example
Volug Lv:3 (This would result in 13 points worth of stats. Note that every stat will start at 1, with the exception being HP which will start at… lets say 4 for now.) Hp: 4 Strength: 5 Defense: 1 Speed: 5 Accuracy: 4 Skill: 3 Size: 2 (3 in wolf form) Passive Skill: Wolf Form: At the start of the battle, Volug will be in wolf form. When in wolf form, receive a +1 bonus to all attributes except HP. Volug retains wolf form for as many turns as he has skill (doesn’t count the extra 1 from wolf form.) Active Skill: Vital Strike: Volug has the potential to deal 2x damage. Crits will always hit. (% activation based on Skill)
Evergreen Lv:4 (This would result in 14 points worth of stats. Note that every stat will start at 1, with the exception being HP which will start at 4 for now.) Hp: 6 Strength: 3 Defense: 3 (+2) Speed: 4 Accuracy: 4 Skill: 2 Size: 5 Passive Skill: Tree Bark: Extra Bark has formed a thick and hard barrier. Evergreen has an extra 2 defense. Active Skill: Deep Rooted: There is a chance that Evergreen will sink his roots into the earth, and heal for 50% of his maximum HP. (% based on skill).
Mock Battle….
Volug speed 6 > Evergreen speed 4. Volug gets first strike.
Volug Accuracy 5 - Evergreen speed 4. 60% hit. (if a 6 or lower is rolled on the RNG calc, it will hit. This makes sense because if it was 60% it would be 6 or lower. This is using a 1-10 RNG)
Rolled 6, Volug Hits.
Roll for Volug Skill. Rolled a 1, Damage doubled. (This is using a 1-20 RNG)
Volug attack 6- evergreen defence 5. 1 HP damage inflicted. Double damage, 2 damage inflicted.
End turn 1. Evergreen 4/6 HP. Volug 4/4 HP
Evergreen attacks Volug
Acc 4- Speed 6. 30% hit
Rolled 8 Evergreen misses.
Roll for Evergreen Skill. Rolled a 17, Evergreen fails to root.
End turn 2. Evergreen 4/6 Hp. Volug 4/4HP
Volug attacks Evergreen.
Acc 5- Speed 4. 60% hit. Rolled 4, it hit.
Roll for Volug Skill. Rolled 11, it fails.
Att 6- def 5 1 damage inflicted.
End turn 3. Volug shifts back to pikmin. Evergreen 3/6 volug 4/4
Evergreen attacks Volug
acc 4- spd 5 40% hit.
rolled 8, evergreen misses.
Roll for skill. rolled 2, skill activates.
End turn 4. Evergreen 6/6 Volug 4/4
Volug attacks
acc 4- spd 4 50% chance. rolled 5
roll for skill. rolled 15, fail.
atk 5- def 5 1 damage
End turn 5 Volug 4/4 Evergreen ⅚
Evergreen attacks volug
Acc 4 - spd 5. 40%. rolled 4, hit.
Att 3- defence 1. 2 damage done.
skill- rolled 13 fail.
End turn 6. Volug shapeshifts. volug 2/4 evergreen ⅚
Volug attacks evergreen
acc 5, spd 4 60% hit. rolled 3, hit.
roll for skill- rolled 12 miss.
Damage done 1
End turn 7 Volug 2/4 Evergreen 4/6
Evergreen attacks Volug
acc 4- spd 6 30% hit. rolled 5, miss
Skill- rolled 4, miss.
End turn 8 volug 2/4 Evergreen 4/6
Volug attacks evergreen
acc 5- spd 4. 60% rolled 8, miss
roll for skill - rolled 16, miss. End turn 9. Volug shifts forms. Vulug 2/4 Evergreen 4/6
Evergreen attacks Volug
4 acc - 5 speed 40% hit. rolled 2. hit.
3 atk- 1 def. 2 damage
Volug hits 0. Volug faints.
Results: Winner: Evergreen +30 Petals +1 CAP +1 Level “Charisma boost” 4/10 Loser: Volug +.5 level “Charisma boost” 5/10

Note that I will make the battles more interesting than this by providing commentary. This is just the Math at work.

This doesn't count, right? Because I didn't get to place my own stats and apply a tactic.

Just curious how long did the calculations for the battle take?

If i actually focused on it, it would have been about 5 minutes. each round was about 60 seconds of math. the misses were faster.
In reality, it took me about 20 minutes because I had to keep referencing the stats I made up, and I kept checking this feed to see if anyone else had said anything.
When I actually post the battle, I will post short hand math for you guys to see, and at the end of each round I will probably do a quick commentary by Mr. Swanky or something of that nature.
It wouldn't be as funny as it has been, it will be more serious and battle oriented.

I would prefer text throughout the battle. You could just take the results of the match and write it out with the same comedy as before. It would take a lot of time for you to do all of that, though, so I guess we could help write the text.

yeah, with 4 battles going on the math alone will take roughly 20 minutes. Not to mention, the higher level your gladiators get the longer the battles will be.
I don't mind doing the text, but it will take an extra 10-20 minutes per duel.
I don't mind spending roughly 30 minutes to an hour per night on the arena, but i dont wanna spend 30 minutes to an hour on each match...
I would like to be able to write other battles too ;p
