Somewhere, on the other side of the planet, and empire existed that was much larger than nay of the minuscule armies many rule here. This empire was simply called "The Desert Empire". This empire ruled over a vast desert, as the name suggests, many species known collectively as "Reptiles" resided her, along with many snavians and pikmin, and many, many other creatures.
At one point, two groups formed, one denounced the way the government was run. The reptiles were treated as the elite, and insects, like whiptails, were forced to fight in war to earn a place in society, the ones who would not were often eaten. The other group wanted to keep the old ways, and believed their gods had set it up that way for them. These two groups formed the Western and Eastern Desert Empires, respectively.
An all out war broke out between two empires. This war was called the Great Desert War. On one side, the Western empire had determination and numbers. On the other side, the Eastern Empire had resources, wealth, and technology. The defining deference between The Western and Eastern Desert empires was that the Western Empire had no organize military or government, they only had some semblance of both. Meanwhile, the Eastern empire had A Sultan, and a organized military with highly trained soldiers and officers.
Off course, the Eastern Empire crushed the Western Empire, despite their determination. Both sides had taken losses. For many years after the war, the Eastern Empire prospered, Abel the Second died, and his son, Abel the Third, took his place as emperor. Everyone lived in excess, even the whiptails had plenty.
It wasn't long until resources started to run dry. Ore veins dissipated, and few new ones of any value were found. The yearly floods form the rivers, which kept their farms prosperous, were smaller and smaller every year, soon the rivers themselves started to dry. Famine broke out. People began to riot, Thousands have died from dehydration and hunger already, in hopes of saving his empire, and to calm his people, the Sultan personally went to look for new land, with rich farmlands, plenty of water, and many ores to mine, all of which he would claim and harvest for his people, he found it.
Everything after that is present time.
